Understand the topic

A role-play station tests interaction as well as the content of your response. The other person's concerns may emerge gradually. Your brief defines your role; as a student or volunteer you should not diagnose, promise treatment or claim authority you do not have.

How to discuss it in Med interview

Introduce yourself appropriately, ask an open question and allow a response. Acknowledge emotion, explore the concern and explain what you can do. Check understanding and agree a realistic next step. For an instruction task, break the process into manageable stages and ask for feedback rather than delivering every step at once.

Put it into words

I can see this has been frustrating. Could you tell me what happened from your perspective? After listening, summarise the concern and offer the next action that your role permits.

Common pitfalls

Talking at the actor, rehearsed empathy with no follow-through, touching without invitation or making unsupported promises.
