Understand the topic

Doctors assess and manage illness while working with patients and a range of healthcare professionals. Safe care depends on communication between roles and services. A profession's contribution should be described accurately and respectfully; tasks and responsibility vary by setting, competence and supervision.

How to discuss it in Med interview

Start with a patient's needs, then explain how different team members contribute. Include a clear handover, shared planning, checking understanding and escalation when a concern exceeds someone's competence. Explain why your interests suit medicine without ranking other professions beneath it.

Put it into words

Discharge planning may involve the patient, nurses, doctors, therapists, pharmacists and community services. A treatment plan is only useful if the person can understand it, obtain medicines and access the support they need at home.

Common pitfalls

Claiming that the doctor always knows best or that collaboration removes individual responsibility.
