Understand the topic

The 2025 10 Year Health Plan for England describes three shifts: more care in communities, greater use of digital approaches, and a stronger focus on prevention. These are policy ambitions. A published plan is not evidence that every promised service or organisational change has already happened.

How to discuss it in Med interview

Choose one shift and explain the patient problem it aims to address. Consider staffing, funding, infrastructure, accessibility and how services join up. Discuss a possible benefit and a realistic risk, then identify an outcome you would measure. Check official updates before discussing implementation milestones.

Put it into words

More community care could reduce travel and support earlier intervention. It needs the workforce and diagnostics to deliver safe care locally, with a clear route to hospital when necessary. I would look at outcomes and patient experience as well as hospital activity.

Common pitfalls

Describing ambitions as completed changes or assuming England's plan applies unchanged across the UK.
