Understand the topic
A pandemic affects acute care, routine services, education, work and inequality. Some people experience persistent or new symptoms after COVID-19, which can affect daily functioning. Uncertainty about mechanisms or treatment does not make a person's symptoms unimportant.
How to discuss it in Med interview
Discuss preparedness through surveillance, clear communication, workforce resilience, supplies and continuity of essential care. Explain how policies should respond to emerging evidence and unintended harms. For long COVID, consider access to assessment, rehabilitation, work support and research, while avoiding claims that one intervention helps everyone.
Put it into words
A future response should explain what is known, what remains uncertain and why advice changes. I would also consider people whose ongoing care is disrupted and how support reaches those least able to isolate or work remotely.
Common pitfalls
Judging decisions only with hindsight, presenting old prevalence estimates as current, or dismissing persistent symptoms because evidence is incomplete.
